Alright folks, this is your last "official" week of trivia until after Christmas. However, I will be at Lew's next Tuesday with a holiday version of trivia during the Lew's Christmas party. Along with all the other events, there will be two "shortened" trivia games with gift cards as prizes. You might as well come Tuesday of next week since we're not playing next Wednesday.

Finally, we WILL have normal trivia on Wednesday, 12/30. And I don't work the next day so trivia will be extra fun (I'll be drunk).

As for this week, your hint is "Time Magazine Persons of the Year".

We're Baaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

Trivia returns this week to begin lucky Season 7! Congrats again to Tarp Crew Heroes for winning Season 6!

This season is going to be interesting...

We have 3 weeks pre-holidays and the remaining 7 weeks post-holidays. After the holidays we may have some added fun to trivia but we'll keep that a secret for now.

If you have any other suggestions or problems with these, tell me tonight - I'm willing to make some changes if we all agree.

As for this week, your hint is of course Tiger Tiger Wood's Y'all. Not necessarily about his recent "accident" or golfing excellent, but more about his personal life.

Tournament of Champions - Part 6!

It's finally here...this season's Tournament of Champions (TOC)! While I usually will give you an idea of the prizes, I actually am not sure what they are this time around! But we all know that the big prizes are your team name on the trophy and the bragging rights you get for being the champion.

Your starting scores are still posted above so make sure you take note of that. As with the previous TOCs, there is no hint for this week. However, we will have a "throwback" category that will come directly from a previous week within the season.

ENHANCED CELL PHONE RULES:

I just want to be clear on the enhanced "no cheating" policy for the TOC. You all know that no cheating is allowed all season, but the rules are even more strongly enforced for the tournament so here they are:

1. All cell phones must be in your pocket, purse or car. You may not have a cell phone in view, even if it is turned off. And just so you know, it will not just be me looking for violations.

2. If you need to take a call or text someone, you must do it outside and you are not allowed to return to your group until that round's answers are turned in. To ensure you are not penalized, please let me know when you are exiting to use your phone.

3. If a cell phone is seen at or on your table, you immediately forfeit that category's points. EVEN IF THE CELL PHONE IS TURNED OFF AND NOT BEING USED. Keep them out of sight and FYI, using cell phones under your table is also not allowed.

4. If there is a cell phone in use at your table, even if it is not for the purpose of cheating, your team is immediately disqualified.

It sounds strict, but this is the Tournament of Champions and there will be NO EXCEPTIONS. I think everyone can live without their phones for two 45-minute segments! If you're worried about it, DO NOT BRING YOUR PHONE INTO THE BAR.

Okay...now that we got the rules out of the way, let's remember to have a great time tonight. Since the next season will run into January, this will be the last TOC of the year so try to go out a winner!

Get there early for a good seat.

Week X - The TOC Warm-up

As you can see above, the final regular season standings have been completed. Congrats to all teams in green and yellow who are eligible for the Tournament of Champions prizes next week. Your starting points gained from regular season performance and attendance are in the right-most column.

This week, as usual, is a warm-up fun week. Normal gift card prizes of $35 and $20 will be awarded. There is no particular topic hint tonight but I can tell you this...

Half the game will be "sport" related and half will be "celebrity" related.

Settle down...scores will be updated after lunch but I wanted to get your hint out as soon as I could.


You're hint for this week is ballroom dance...think types of dances. I'm not going to throw anything too crazy out there so just know the basics.


This is the last week to make your moves and gain position for the TOC (Tournament of Champions). This season's TOC will be held on 11/18/09. We will still have trivia next week, but it will be a non-season event with normal weekly prizes.

As a reminder, posted below are the tournament specifics:

Only the Top 10 scoring teams for the 10-week period and 2 "wild card" teams with the most weeks of attendance are eligible for Tournament of Champions prizes.

For every week you come to trivia during the season, you receive 3 points toward your starting tournament score. For example, if you come for all 10 weeks, your team starts with 30 points.

The top 4 teams in scoring for the regular season will also receive starting points in the tournament:

• 1st Place: 20 points
• 2nd Place: 15 points
• 3rd Place: 10 points
• 4th Place: 5 points

Season 5 Final and Trivia Hint for Week X

Above you will find the final standings for Season 5. Green teams are in on points and Yellow teams are the wildcards based on weeks attended. Once again, We are Adults pulled out the regular season win. However, this season has many more teams than normal with large starting points so it really is anyone's game.

As a reminder, tonight is "for fun" (and normal gift cards) and does not count toward any season's standings. Tonight's theme is "Decades". I will have categories that focus on the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's and there may be some 00's in there somewhere. Your hint for one of the 60's categories is The Beatles.

Next week is the Tournament of Champions so make sure to show up tonight to sharpen your skills in the final exhibition contest.

Final Week of Season 5 - Trivia Hint

A shake up at the top of the standings as 3 Teams pass Hangin' with Mr. Carradine - missing week 8 may be the difference. But nothing is decided until after the final question tonight.

Your hint is MLB. I'm not as concerned about individual performance...remember, there's no "I" in TEAM.

At this point, I think it's fair to assume that the Tournament of Champions will take place on 8/26. This means that as usual, next week is "for fun". There will still be trivia and normal weekly prizes but results will not count toward the season standings.

That's right everyone...tonight is the 4th ever Tournament of Champions!!!
We have great prizes and best of all - everyone will leave with something!

Just to be clear, only the 12 teams posted at the top of this page are eligible for the special Tournament of Champions prizes tonight. However, anyone can play - teams outside the tournament are eligible only for normal weekly gift cards.

Two hints:
1) One category tonight will be a throwback category where all the questions have been asked in a previous week.

2) Get there early so you get a good seat.

Finally, I have one rule specific to tonight's Tournament:

As you know, cheating is never allowed. But due to the larger prizes tonight, I do not even want to SEE any cellphones. You can have them in your pocket, but please refrain from taking them out and of course from using them at all during the game. If you must use your phone, even for texting, let me know and walk outside. You can return to your team after that round is over. It's not that I don't trust everyone that will be there tonight...I just want to ensure it is fair.

TRIVIA 5/27/09

Yo homies...nice rapping skills last week (for the most part). The final scores from Season 4 are posted above. Additionally, you can see how many points your team starts our with in the Tournament of Champions next week (still scheduled for next Wednesday). I am still working on finding out what the prizes will be and will let you know as soon as I know.

For tonight...as you know, it is a "just for fun" night but all that means is it doesn't count toward standings. All teams are invited and I might have a few side prizes besides the typical weekly gift cards.

No specific hint but I will tell you this...tonight's trivia is ALL about movies. Every category will have questions about a different movie. Lots of comedies with some action, sports movies and chick flicks thrown in. So come out and test your movie knowledge.

That's about the extent of my rapping skills. Each team gets a very brief chance on the mic to sing their trivia rap. The rap that comes in first (judge's choice) gets the team 10 points. Other "valid" attempts by teams get 5 points. Make it short and sweet but a minimum of one verse - my rap above is two verses. This hint gives you ample time to prepare something fun.

Also, despite the voting leaning in favor of extending trivia a week, we are going to continue to call this the last week of the season. It's probably not fair to add a week at this point. As of right now, this is the last week, next week will be a normal trivia week with typical weekly prizes, and the following Wednesday, June 3 will be the Tournament of Champions. This is very tentative right now - make sure you let me know if you have any issues with the date and we'll try to make it work for everyone. The new season - Season 5 - will begin on June 10th.

Remember, the Top 10 teams in total points make it in the tournament as well as the two teams outside the top 10 who have been to trivia most often this season. All the current stats can be found above.

Week 6 Scores are up...

Week 6 scores are up...it's a close race to regular season champs and top 10 teams to play in the tournament. I will post a hint later this afternoon...still thinking of what to give you all a hint about.

Let's remember...everyone makes mistakes...

As you can see by the score posting, I was unable to track down the week 4 scores. I have no idea where they could have disappeared to. Since we will not be able to remember exact scores for that week, I have credited the teams I know were there with being there, but have not assigned any actual points to the scoring sheet. To avoid this situation from happening again, I have consulted with a Six-sigma blackbelt for guidance. His recommendation was to save the score sheets next time.

To make up for this mistake, I would like to offer all trivia players this week $2 Bud Light draws from 9pm on, not to mention a stellar set of questions.

Most of the categories tonight don't really lend themselves to specific hints, but I would rest assured some kind of Earth Day/Environment topic or question will be asked.

Reminder and Trivia Hint

Just a reminder...the Tournament of Champions has been pushed back a week and will now occur on 3/11. Tonight will be a regular trivia game with normal prizes (plus some extra prizes) but will most likely start a little late due to the MU and KU games. Announcement and Hint for this week...

Hello All,

First, I have an important announcement. We are moving the date of the Tournament of Champions from next week, March 4th to the week after, March 11th. We are doing this because the MU/OU game is on at 8pm and the KU/TT game is on at 8:30pm on March 4th. As fans of both teams (and K-State) play trivia, I don't want any excuses when it comes tournament time!

We will still have trivia next week, but will probably begin it around 9:30-10:00 and it will be a somewhat shortened version to finish by 11-11:30.

We do of course have trivia tonight as well with the normal weekly prizes! Your hint for tonight is World Capitals. There aren't too many countries right?

Season 3, Week 10 Hint and Reminder

Welcome to the final week of Season 3. I have posted the scores above. Teams in Green are currently in the tournament on points alone. Teams in Orange are currently in as they are the most frequent guests outside the top 10. But as you can see by the scores...anything and everything can change tonight.

As a reminder, the tournament will be held on Wednesday, March 4th. That is two weeks from tonight. While the game itself is open to EVERYONE, only the qualified teams are eligible for the special tournament prizes. Those teams not eligible for tournament prizes are still eligible to win the usual weekly prizes. Also, we will still have trivia for normal prizes next week, but the tournament is in two weeks.

Some tournament prizes I have heard about so far:

• 10 Tickets to the Lew's Irish Hooley St. Patrick's Day Party
• 6 VIP Passes to the Lew's Irish Hooley St. Patrick's Day Party
• Your Team Name on the Trophy for the winning team
• Reserved Seating Every Wednesday for the winning team
• 2-Hour Happy Hour for your entire team from 5pm-7pm before any Wednesday Trivia Night - this includes 4 appetizers, domestic beers and well drinks)!

Certainly there are more prizes to come and yes, Tarp Crew Heroes, you will have your banner by then!

Here is a reprint of the tournament specifics regarding your starting scores:

1. Only the Top 10 scoring teams for the 10-week period and 2 "wild card" teams with the most weeks of attendance are eligible for Tournament of Champions prizes.
2. For every week you come to trivia during the season, you receive 3 points toward your starting tournament score. For example, if you come for all 10 weeks, your team starts with 30 points.
3. The top 4 teams in scoring for the regular season will also receive starting points in the tournament: 1st Place: 20 points 2nd Place: 15 points 3rd Place: 10 points 4th Place: 5 points

And finally, your hint for this week is water - I would lean toward the bottled variety.

Hey...it's the Super Bowl this weekend...there's your hint! There may be a variety of topics covering many aspects of the Super Bowl...or maybe there won't be. You never know.

By the way, the Steelers are going to crush the Cardinals so go ahead and lay those 7 points down. It's a good investment.
